At Little Orphans Kitten Rescue (LOKR), we are dedicated to saving the most vulnerable animals—orphans who would otherwise face death on their own or in shelters. Since 2011, we’ve been dedicated to helping these fragile kittens.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to provide support to the people who care for motherless, unweaned kittens. Our vision is a world where no orphaned kitten is left without care or kindness. Our work is led by a dedicated volunteer board of directors: Nancy Hancock (Founder), Kathryn Kerensky (Board President), and Liz McNulty (Secretary and Treasurer).
In 2025, our Director (who worked full-time, unpaid!) retired and we have been unable to find a replacement to manage fosters and adoptions. This meant we had to find other ways to help orphaned kittens. Thus the Stork Project was born. Our Stork Kits (supply kits for anyone bottle-feeding kittens) are available at select veterinary clinics in Louisville and are given out at the clinics’ discretion.
Starting in 2026, we will be reimbursing Continuing Education courses on neonatal kitten care for vets and vet techs. Clinics and shelters who would like their staff members to be reimbursed for completing the CE course should contact us at li***********************@gm***.com .
Our foster families are crucial to our mission. They receive extensive training, ongoing support, and many of the supplies needed to care for these little orphans.
